Benefits:
Family will offer 10 PTO days to be used for vacation, sick and personal days. Nanny will have 7 paid holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). The family will provide a car for the nanny to drive during the work day. The family will guarantee pay at 40 hours/week, even in the case where the nanny is given unrequested time off, when the family vacations or ends a day early.
Children:
The family has two sons who are 5 and 3 years old. B5 is active, energetic and fun. He loves to read, paint, draw and build things out of blocks and legos. He is partially bilingual, from being a part of the bi-lingual household but easily separates the two languages. He loves to play outdoors including running, riding his bike, and going on walks. B5 is a good eater and eats a variety of foods. He is in full day kindergarten, so will mostly be around for the first and last hours of the day. He does not do screen time during the day. B3 is also active and loves to play. He is very expressive and communicative. He is fully potty trained. He loves imaginative play, and especially loves cars, trucks, trains and other vehicles. He also adores playing with his brother, going outside, riding his balance bike, playing with water, and running around. Additionally, he enjoys trips to the park, picnics, and outings to the museum, zoo and aquarium. He is a great eater and loves to try new foods. He takes a 2 hour nap each day around 1:45 pm. He also does not do screen time during the day. B3 will attend 2 half-days of preschool each week.
Family values:
This family values the attributes of kindness, respect and manners toward others. They enjoy time together whether it’s going to the zoo, the park, the museum, breakfast out or enjoying dinner in the backyard. They prefer redirection over punishment, but do use time outs when appropriate with both children. They seek to treat a nanny like a member of the family, as the nanny is truly an extension of the parents. Mom shares that mornings can be a little chaotic, getting everybody ready. But in the same way, they will be respectful of the nanny’s time and punctual at the end of the day. Unless it’s an emergency, they typically do not bother the nanny on nights or weekends. Mom would also say that she is a pretty direct person and will communicate preferences; they would like the nanny to be an open communicator as well. The parents are both physicians who work outside of the home. They have a bi-lingual household; Dad’s primary language is Spanish but both parents speak English and Spanish. Dad would say that the best thing about parenting is the morning routine, waking up to hearing B2 saying “Hi, Dada”, playing and wrestling. Mom adds she enjoys watching them grow, like B2 going from saying simple words to full sentences. He is so funny and always keeps them laughing.
Duties include:
Accompanying B5 to and from the nearby bus stop. Transportation to and from preschool for B3. Basic care and clean up after children. Children’s meal prep. Children’s laundry. Maintaining a tidy, orderly home during the day (wiping counters and tables, vacuuming, putting items away, etc. organization of spaces when needed). Being a self-starter who can arrive and get breakfast started and help manage a busy morning routine when children are heading to school. Planning and engaging in age-appropriate activities and projects. During preschool hours: light organizing related to the children and shared spaces.
Pets:
The family has one dog; he is a poodle mix and 20 lbs. He would need to be let out at least once per day and likes to be engaged during the day, particularly with fetching toys. It would be great if the nanny is comfortable with and truly enjoys dogs.
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional long-term nanny who is dependable, safe and engaging. An ideal candidate would truly be excited to teach and have a true enthusiasm in their role with children. Someone who provides engaging, interactive play and learning experiences. A person who is reliable, has open communication and enjoys dogs would be great. The family requires a 1-year commitment, but could see the role being needed for the next 2-3 years.
