Start date:
As soon as the family can find the right fit.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., for a total of 45 hours per week.
Pay Range:
$25.00–$30.00/hour, depending on experience, education, and expertise. Overtime pay at time-and-a-half applies to all hours worked over 40 per week. The expected gross compensation is $1,187.50–$1,425.00 per week, or approximately $61,750–$74,100 annually. Taxes will be withheld.
Benefits:
Family will offer 12 PTO days to be used for vacation, sick and personal days. Nanny will have 6 standard holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day) off and paid. The family travels 3 weeks or more per year and may invite the nanny to travel with the family. The family will reimburse miles driven during the workday at the federal mileage rate when using the nanny’s own vehicle. The family will guarantee pay at 40 hours/week.
Children:
The family has 4 children, a 7 year old daughter, 5 year old son, a 3 year old daughter and an 8 month old daughter. G7 and B5 are very independent and very close. Care is predominately for the 8 month old. G7, B5 and G3 attend school and preschool full-time (7:30/8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.). Care would be needed for G7, B5 and G3 sometimes from 3:30 – 5:00 in the afternoons, school holidays and sick days; they attend full-time camps through the summer. Mom will help with drop-off/pick-up to school, but the nanny may also pick the kids up a few days a week. G8mos is such a happy baby who is loving life. She is teething, loves to eat, her jumping seat and rolling around. The family keeps a loose routine with her, as she seems to find her rhythms. G8mos currently wakes at 7:30 a.m., takes morning and afternoon naps, then is in bed at 6:30/7:30 p.m. She is bottle fed formula and is eating solids, currently baby food.
Family values:
This family values family above all else. They seek to model respectfulness and encourage manners. The family is active and enjoys spending time together outside of the house – the park, coffee shops, museums, the zoo, etc. They can walk to Hyde Park Square and the Hyde Park school playground. They love to travel with the kids, including day trips, domestic and international travel. When it comes to guidance the parents look to talk things through with their kids. They observe the Jewish and Catholic holidays. Mom works part-time from home and is very involved in care of the children and baby. Dad works full-time remote and onsite. Dad travels quite a bit for work. The parents would say the best thing about parenting is the 1-on-1 time they find with each kid and seeing their personalities expressed in those close interactions and conversations. They also love teaching them new things and seeing their reactions to new experiences.
Duties include:
Basic care and clean up after the baby. Baby’s bottle and meal prep. Calendar awareness, family uses a Skylight. Keeping the house picked up, orderly, wiping counters/table, dishes, organizing and putting children’s stuff away, etc. As time allows, helping to manage packages and grocery deliveries. As baby gets older, or if Mom’s work picks up, provide activities in and out of the home such as daily walks, reading, parks, museums, zoo, etc. The family has a regular housekeeper.
Pets:
The family does not have any pets.
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional nanny/family assistant who is adaptable, kind, dependable, and attentive. An ideal nanny would be a partner who is proactive to support the whole family and who is open with communication. The family requires a 1 year commitment, but could see the role being needed for the next 5 years.
