Start date:
Ideally by February 9th. The family has flexibility for the nanny to start sooner or later.
Schedule:
Typically Monday – Friday, 8:00a.m. – 4:00 p.m or 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Due to their positions, the family will need some flexibility to the schedule, potentially coming in as early as 7:00 a.m. and/or staying until 6:00 p.m. on occasion. Family would know at least a week in advance for changes to the start and end time.
Pay Range:
$22.00-25.00/hour, dependent on experience, education, and expertise. Overtime rate of time and a half goes into effect after 40 hours/week. At 40 hours/week, the expected gross amount is $880-1,000/week or $45,760 – 52,000 annually. Taxes will be withheld.
Benefits:
Family will offer 12 PTO days to be used for vacation, sick, and personal days. Nanny will have 9 paid holidays (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day). The family will reimburse miles driven during the workday at the federal mileage rate. The family will guarantee pay at 40 hours/week, even in the case where the nanny is given unrequested time off, when the family vacations, or ends a day early.
Children:
The family has two sons, ages 6.5 and 3 years old, both who are very active and thrive on consistency and routine. They love being outside and playdates with friends. B6 is in 1st grade. He is creative, caring, and curious and currently loves building and Legos. B6 can struggle with self-confidence and benefits from adults encouraging him to try and practice new activities. B3is is in pre-school three days per week (this will be reduced with a full time nanny). B3 is independent and curious. B3 currently loves coloring, playing with toy vehicles, and any water activities. He is testing boundaries but responds well to firm and consistent expectations. He currently naps once daily for 1 hour and is mostly potty-trained.
Family values:
This family seeks to teach their children to treat everyone with respect; they feel everyone deserves the same dignity. They hope to raise their children to be independent, to problem-solve when they are unsure, and to thrive as adults. They seek to give them new opportunities to find what they enjoy doing. Education is important. The family enjoys getting outside to be active. They value simple evenings together: sharing meals, bath time, and playing as a family. The parents strive to be “present” when they are home. They believe consistency is important when the boys test boundaries. Dad is currently working from home 2 days per week; his hours are pretty consistent. Mom works standard business hours in healthcare. The parents would say the best thing about parenting is seeing their children happy and enjoying life, it’s a natural stress reliever. They also love watching the boys learn new things.
Duties include:
Basic care and cleaning up after the children. Meal prep for the children. Children’s laundry and bedding once per week. Putting away grocery delivery once per week. Transportation and getting B6 on and off the bus on school days. The family encourages activities and play dates outside of the home. Time permitting (i.e. during times when both boys are in school), the family will ask for more assistance with picking up/tidying, laundry, and meal prep.
Pets:
The family has a dog, Bailey, who is an 80 pound golden retriever – blood hound mix. Bailey is very sweet, loves attention, and likes to spend time outdoors with the boys.
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional nanny who is dependable, reliable, and safe. The nanny should be responsible and committed to the role. The parents seek open communication – simply for the nanny to share what the children experienced that day and be comfortable asking questions and providing suggestions. The nanny should have awareness and experience with these ages and be able to nurture development. An ideal candidate would be proactive, willing to think about the next steps for their children, to challenge and encourage them. The nanny should take initiative to create learning experiences in and out of the house. They desire the nanny to offer consistency and routines for their children. The family requires a 1 year commitment, but could see the role being needed for the next 3-4 years.
