The family will guarantee pay at 31 or 36 hours/week, even in the case where the nanny is given unrequested time off, when the family vacations or ends a day early.
Children:
The family has one son who is 5 months old; his age is adjusted 12 weeks after spending some time in the NICU after birth. B5mos is feisty and a fighter, he already had some spunk to his personality. He is social, likes to be outside, music and likes to be held, talked to and engaged with. Though not on an official routine yet, he is happy on a rhythm and loves a car ride. Including tummy time and a walk every morning. Mom will leave at 6:30/6:45 a.m; B5mos will be up at 6:00 to feed before she leaves for work. He is currently nursing every 2.5 hours, sometimes stretching to 3. Mom will nurse when she is at home and nanny will bottle feed when she is not. He is getting better at napping, and does well with a swaddle. The parents are working to provide a consistent routine for sleep – closing the curtain, sound machine on and he is starting to recognize. The family is routine oriented, following an eat-play-sleep rhythm.
Family values:
This family embraces a gentle parenting style that prioritizes open communication and curiosity over fear-based rules. They will encourage independence in their child, fostering the ability to ask questions and explore the world through diverse perspectives, rather than a narrow lens. Conversations with him are engaging rather than baby talk; and they value exposure to Spanish. They value growth and believe in hard work and commitment, rather than apathy. They enjoy spending time together, such as Sundays at Findlay Market, sharing dinners, and jamming to music together. Their journey has been shaped by challenges, including a chaotic early arrival in the Chicago NICU, but it has strengthened their bond. The parents are dedicated to their work while balancing family life. Dependability from the nanny is crucial for their schedules; Mom will leave early and Dad will care for the baby in the mornings before heading to work. Parenting has taught them the importance of slowing down and cherishing moments with their child, who brings excitement and joy, shifting their priorities in ways they never anticipated.
Duties include:
Basic care and clean up after children. Children’s meal prep. Children’s laundry. Keeping the house picked up and orderly, wiping counters/table, vacuuming, putting stuff away, etc., Transportation to activities.. Once the baby is napping consistently, providing some household support like chopping up vegetables.
Pets:
The family has a large Bernese Mountain Dog. Pet care mainly involves vacuuming his hair from the floors where the baby plays. Taking him for walks would be a bonus, but it’s not required.
Covid Approach: (5) Very Open
Socializes without social distancing, masks, or recommended etiquette. Not taking any extra precautions to protect oneself from infection outside what is normal. Not personally concerned with being infected.
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional long-term nanny who is committed, dependable, nurturing and fun. It is preferred that they have both infant and nanny experience, but this is not required. An ideal candidate would be routine oriented, truly enjoy their work with babies and able to provide a schedule for the child as he develops. Someone who provides a positive, engaging and active environment for the child. The family requires a 1 year commitment, but as they seek to expand their family would like a nanny indefinitely.
