In addition, when the family travels, the nanny will have an additional 3+ weeks off and paid. The family will reimburse miles driven during the workday at the federal mileage rate. The family will guarantee pay at 40 hours/week, even in the case where the nanny is given unrequested time off, when the family vacations or ends a day early. Healthcare stipend is negotiable.
Children:
The family has one son, age 7, who is energetic and passionate about sports—he even has a basketball hoop in his room! He has a great sense of humor, a vivid imagination, and is incredibly empathetic. He enjoys sports, games, bike riding, drawing and playing with neighborhood friends. B7 has ADHD and takes medication to help with focus, impulsivity, and attention; the family is actively working with him in these areas and would love a nanny who both strategize and implement with them as a family team. During the school year, B7 attends school full-time. His bus pick up in the mornings at 8:30 a.m. and drops him off between 4:05 and 4:15 p.m. The family has a no-screens policy during the week to help him focus. After school, he has reading and math intervention homework, which can be a challenging time. His routine typically includes a snack, playtime, before dinner. He may also have soccer and baseball practices. In the summer, B7 will attend various camps. He enjoys being active, playing with neighborhood friends, and participating in educational outings like trips to the zoo.
Family Values:
This family values kindness, empathy, honesty, integrity, and a strong work ethic. They believe in treating others well and following through on commitments. They enjoy spending quality time together—family movie and pizza nights, staying active, and traveling. They love skiing as a family and taking trips to Saugatuck, Michigan, where they go fishing and boating. Their son thrives with structure and boundaries. By 4:00 p.m., his ADHD medication starts to wear off, and he needs clear direction and redirection. A strong but supportive approach—like a “third parent”—is ideal, providing discipline when needed while also allowing him space to decompress. Incentives and creative strategies help him stay engaged. Mom works downtown and has limited flexibility, typically arriving home around 5:45 p.m. Dad has more flexibility, works from home often, but also travels occasionally. The most rewarding part of parenting for them is seeing their son take pride in his accomplishments—building his confidence and knowing he has done a great job.
Duties include:
Basic care and clean-up after the child. Child’s meal prep. Keeping the house picked up and orderly, wiping counters/table, vacuuming, putting stuff away, etc., Transportation. Household support while B7 is in school, including: running errands, dry cleaning, grocery pick-up, family laundry, managing contractors. The family employs a housekeeper, so there is no deep cleaning.
Pets:
The family has a 3-year-old King Cavalier. Responsibilities include daily walks, basic care, and letting him outside. A groomer visits the home for grooming, while Mom handles vet appointments.
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional, long-term nanny/household manager who is dependable, trustworthy, and takes initiative. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of professional childcare experience (five or more years preferred but not required). They should be engaging, energetic, and enjoy teaching, while also being nurturing and patient. Organization and responsibility are key, as well as being a proactive team player who communicates openly. The family values a nanny who can help create a structured yet fun environment, provide clear direction for their son, and support his growth while reinforcing household expectations. They require a minimum one-year commitment but could see the role lasting up to five years.
