Start date:
Mid Oct – Early Nov. The family has some flexibility,
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 4:00 p.m. 37.5 hours/week
Pay Range:
$28.00 – 32.00/hour, dependent on experience, education, and expertise. Overtime at a rate of time and a half goes into effect after 40 hours/week. At 37.5 hours/week, the expected gross amount is $1,050–$1,200/week, or $54,600–$62,400 annually. Taxes will be withheld.
Benefits:
Family will offer 8 PTO days to be used for vacation, sick, and personal days. Nanny will have 13 paid holidays: all 11 federal holidays (New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth National Independence Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day) plus Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. In addition, when the family travels, the nanny will have an additional 3–4 weeks per year off and paid. The family will reimburse miles driven during the workday at the federal mileage rate. The family will guarantee pay at 37.5 hours/week, even when the nanny is given unrequested time off, when the family vacations, or when the family ends a day early. Healthcare stipend is negotiable.
Children:
The family has two sons, a 3-month-old infant and a 2.5-year-old. Care is only for the infant who was born 6 weeks premature and currently healthy, with a few ongoing needs related to being a preemie. He is on track with developmental milestones, has strong neck control, and enjoys walks, being worn in a carrier, looking at books, and watching his older brother’s cartoons. He is currently sleeping in 3–4 hour stretches and is working toward establishing a more consistent nap routine. He is breastfed and receives pumped breast milk by bottle. The family is currently feeding on demand while he catches up, with a goal of transitioning toward bottles approximately every 3 hours. The nanny will prepare bottles and support his feeding routine and may require administration of one or two medications per day. Overall, he is a healthy, happy infant who is continuing to catch up after being born prematurely. The family also has a 2.5-year-old who is an active, happy toddler who loves baseball, sports, Hot Wheels, trucks, reading, and playing independently. He is a pretty healthy eater and enjoys getting outside, helping water plants, and exploring. He is very interested in his baby brother and enjoys being around him. He currently attends daycare and typically naps after lunch for approximately 90 minutes. The nanny will not be responsible for his care at this time; his daycare is connected with the school where Dad teaches. Depending on the family’s needs, summer care may include both children. If care for the older son is added in the future, the family understands that the rate would be adjusted accordingly.
Family Values:
This is an active, family-oriented household that values community, quality time together, and creating a positive environment for their children. Sports are a big part of family life, especially baseball. Dad is an active baseball coach, and the family enjoys attending baseball games, watching the Reds, and spending time together outdoors. Community is important to the family. They intentionally chose their neighborhood because of its strong school and family community, with the grandparents living nearby and the library just down the street. The nanny is welcome to visit the grandparents with the children and take advantage of the many nearby community resources. Both parents are flexible and supportive of the nanny having a good relationship with the family. Mom works from home and has an office on the lower level of the home, giving her flexibility while allowing the nanny to take the lead with the children. Dad is a teacher nearby. For the parents, one of the best parts of parenting is simply having quality time with their boys. They enjoy the everyday moments, sitting outside, watching cars go by, talking with the boys, and being present and engaged with them. They want their children to feel encouraged, heard, and positively engaged throughout their day.
Duties include:
Basic care and clean up after children. Keeping the house picked up and orderly, wiping counters/table, vacuuming, putting things away, etc. Transportation to fun activities; the family encourages getting out for activities, walks, and play
Pets:
The family does not have any pets.
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional, long-term nanny who is safe, trustworthy, organized, and proactive. They are looking for someone with nanny experience, preferably with strong infant experience. Safety is especially important, including strong awareness of water and car safety. The nanny should be dependable, use good judgment, communicate well, stay organized, manage schedules, think ahead, and work as a collaborative team with the parents. The family requires a minimum one-year commitment, but anticipates that this role could potentially continue for 5+ years as their family grows and their needs evolve.
