Start date:
This position is open now. The family has flexibility to wait for the right fit but has travel planned for Spring, and appreciate a start ASAP to get acclimated to the family/role.
.
Role/Duties:
Nanny/Household Assistant would provide mostly evening and overnight supervision of the household; basic pet care, including feeding and letting pets outside. About 25% of the time, additional nanny support for the 16-year-old daughter, focused on companionship and assistance with meals and occasional driving. Additional responsibilities include light household tasks such as light laundry and tidying, as well as running errands and grocery pickup as needed. While this could be paired up with another day-time nanny position worked by the candidate, a professional commitment to this role is required.
.
Schedule:
This role consists of scheduled overnight stays, planned in advance based on the family’s travel schedule. Overnight hours run from 5:30 p.m. through 7:30 a.m., with an additional midday stop-in required to let the dogs out. On average, the family anticipates 8–10 overnight stays per month. Typically assignments may range from 3–5 consecutive nights at a time. During months when the entire family is traveling, coverage may extend to longer stretches of 7–10 consecutive days, and total up to 14 overnight stays in that month. The family anticipates a minimum of 3 long weeks of travel in 2026. Holiday travel may include being fully away for Thanksgiving and definitely include being away the day before or after Christmas through January 2. When the 16-year-old is home, mom typically travels for no more than 3–5 days at a time and usually during the school week. The family would say they are “planners” and have the ability to work around the nanny’s personal vacation and time off as most of the travel will be scheduled in advance. They have the flexibility and will coordinate scheduling collaboratively with the nanny whenever possible.
.
Pay Range:
Gross pay will be between $225.00 – 300.00/overnight shift based on the total number of hours worked in the week to compensate for legal pay and overtime. The expectation is 75-85 overnights in the year totaling $20,000-25,000 annually. Taxes will be withheld.
.
Benefits:
The family will reimburse miles driven during the workday at the federal mileage rate.
.
Children:
The family has one daughter, age 16. She is funny, kind, and a conscientious student. She is very active in school and sports, including track and cross country, which keep her busy on weekdays and into the weekends. She enjoys spending time with friends and is social, but also values relaxing at home. After school, she typically needs some downtime before re-engaging in the evening. Friends often stay over, and the family home is a welcoming gathering place. She currently drives herself to school and to friends’ homes, though she is still new to driving and may occasionally need transportation support.
