The family will reimburse miles driven during the workday at the federal mileage rate. The family will guarantee pay at 40 hours/week, even in the case where the nanny is given unrequested time off, when the family vacations or ends a day early.
Children:
The family has three sons ages 6, 4.5 and 1.5 years old. B6 is easygoing, nice, happy and energetic. He enjoys school, friends, playing outside, trucks, dinosaurs, dirt, riding his bike and likes to draw and color. He is in Kindergarten, Dad takes the older boys to school, but occasionally the nanny may help. Next year he will be off the bus at 3:30 p.m. each day. Encouraged to work on reading and sight words. B4 is a classic middle child—fun, clever, energetic, and spunky. He is highly engaged with his caregiver and thrives in one-on-one attention, though he can be more needy in full-group settings (especially with Mom). He has a great sense of humor and also enjoys being outside. He loves hide-and-seek, games, puzzles, imaginary play (especially involving heroes and powers), and building forts or obstacle courses. He is B6’s biggest cheerleader. Next year, he’ll attend Kindergarten Prep five days a week (8:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri, with a short day on Weds). B1 is the easiest “baby” with a great temperament—happy, independent, and content to play with just about anything. He loves the outdoors, playing at the park, kicking and throwing balls, running, chasing, and building with Magna-Tiles and Legos. He naps daily at 1:30 p.m. for 2–2.5 hours and is easy to put to bed at night. He’s a great eater. Next year he will go to preschool 9-11:30 a.m. 4 days a week (M,Tu,Th,F). B1 is currently learning to use more words, and supporting his language development will be a focus for the nanny.
Family Rhythms:
During the school year, mornings are active and structured. Mom has a work Zoom call from 8:00–8:20 a.m. and is unavailable during that time. Dad typically handles school drop-off, though the nanny may occasionally assist. In the evenings, the nanny may help get baths and dinner started. On some nights, the kids eat around 5:00–5:30 p.m. when the nanny prepares dinner; on other nights, Mom cooks and the family eats closer to 6:00–6:30 p.m. During the summer, the children stay busy with camps to help maintain routine and provide opportunities to get out of the house while Mom works from home. The family also travels a fair amount. Preschool ends in mid-May, and the two older boys will then attend various half-day camps. The family will be away for two weeks around the 4th of July and another two weeks for a beach vacation in late July through early August. School resumes around August 15th. In between trips, the boys will participate in local activities such as Zoo Camp, golf and tennis programs, and pool time.
Family values:
This family values independence, self-sufficiency, and nurturing a strong sense of self and confidence in their children. Kindness, empathy, laughter, and a love for learning, nature and sports are at the heart of their home. Good manners and respectful behavior are priorities for their children, and the children are encouraged to help the nanny with basic age-appropriate tasks. The Family a enjoys spending time together doing activities outside the house—visiting the zoo, going to the park, hiking in the woods, dining out as a family, and playing games together. Their parenting approach is intentional and grounded in connection, drawing inspiration from Dr. Becky’s Good Inside philosophy, which emphasizes teaching life skills and setting boundaries while staying emotionally connected. Mom works full-time from a home office and travels to NYC 2–3 times a month, typically from Tuesday morning to Wednesday evening, but remains reachable while away. Dad works a traditional schedule outside the home. The best part of parenting for them is the loving connection they share as a family, watching their children grow, overcome challenges, and develop in ways they never thought possible.
Duties include:
Basic childcare including simple homework, art projects, playing games and other engaging activities with the children. Cleaning up after the children: keeping the house picked up and orderly, wiping counters/table, vacuuming, putting clothes and toys away, etc. Children’s transportation, laundry and meal prep. Household support while children are in school to the extent time permits including family laundry, running errands, picking up groceries and family meal prep. The family employs a housekeeper, so there is no deep cleaning.
Pets:
The family does not have any pets.
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional, long-term nanny/family assistant who is dependable, proactive, and active. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of childcare experience, though the family prefers someone with 5 or more years. While prior nanny experience is preferred, it is not required. They value a proactive and organized individual who keeps things tidy and brings a positive, kind, and engaging presence into their home. Someone who is active, enjoys being playful with children and who is comfortable providing structure for growing boys will be a great fit. The family values open lines of communication. The role may also include occasional travel with the family for a few weeks each year—this is preferred but not required. A minimum one-year commitment is required, but the family sees this as a potential 3–5 year role. As the family’s needs evolve, the role and responsibilities may shift, so a candidate who can offer flexibility over time is highly valued.
