Benefits:
Family will offer 10 PTO days to be used for vacation, sick and personal days. Nanny will have 6 paid holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). Family requests 6 weeks notice for vacation days (consecutive PTO days). In addition, when the family travels during Spring Break, the nanny will have an additional week off and paid. The family will guarantee pay even in the case where the nanny is given unrequested time off, when the family vacations or ends a day early. The family will provide a car for the nanny to drive.
Children:
The family has two sons, who are 5 years old (B5) and 2 years old (B2); they are also due with a 3rd son in July. Care will start predominately with B2, as B5 is in full-day preschool. Care will transition in the fall to be mostly for the baby as the older boys will be in school full-time. B5 is sweet, energetic, thoughtful and loves learning. He is funny, loves making people laugh, a great listener and easy-going. B5 enjoys imaginative play partly because the family heavily limits screen time. He enjoys playing outdoors and indoors, doing sports, crafts, and visiting museums, parks, playgrounds, libraries, and the zoo. B5 is in his final year of preK he attends Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. so he will be home in the afternoons by ~ 3:45 p.m., for school breaks and until summer camps begin. The nanny would help provide transportation to/from preschool a couple days a week. B2 is the happiest kid, smiley, active and has no fear. B2 likes to try and keep up with his brother and play whatever he does. B2 is currently napping daily around 12:30-2:30 p.m. Baby boy is due in July, mom will be home for maternity leave for 12 weeks, but full-time nanny care will still be needed for the older boys.
Family values:
This family hopes to instill the values of kindness towards others. They also value education and learning, but hope to incorporate in their days through fun. The parents hope to instill a strong work ethic in their children; at this age it’s just learning to help clean up after themselves. The family keeps a close circle and values discretion, including social media. The family enjoys spending time outside together; they have a very walkable neighborhood and several parks within walking distance. They also spend time with other family friends and frequent trips to the zoo. When it comes to guidance with B5 the parents work to explain expectations and consequences, give one warning, and then follow-up with a time out (3 minutes). With B2 guidance at this age looks mostly like redirecting. The parents would say the best thing about parenting is seeing them develop into their own little people. Seeing B5 make some of his own decisions or find joy in accomplishment, knowing that they gave him the opportunity. They love watching B2 explore the world in his own way.
Duties include:
Basic care and clean up after children. Children’s laundry. Keeping the house picked up and orderly, wiping counters/table, vacuuming, putting stuff away that relates to the children (no cleaning relative to the adults is expected), etc. Transportation to school and activities.
Pets:
The family has 1 dog, a 30 lb mutt (Brittany Spaniel /Australian Shepherd mix), who is shy and non-social. Pet care would be very minimal and only when Dad is out of town.
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional long-term nanny/household manager who is dependable and kind. An ideal candidate would be capable of managing and organizing the day, keeping the flow of the family, comfortable with a work at home parent, is open with communication and proactive in approach. The nanny should be engaging with the children and provide creative and activities inside and outside of the home, rather than relying on screentime to entertain the kids. The nanny would be expected to limit their own screentime/phone usage to times where the children are sleeping. The family requires a 1-year commitment, but hope for the nanny to stay many years.
