Children:
The family has two children, a daughter who is 9 years old and a son who is 5.5 years old. G9 is an old soul—creative, loving, and goofy, with a sharp mind. She has a passion for music, imaginative games, and anything art-related, including sewing, clay, slime, and crafts. She enjoys trying out recipes, spending time in nature, and is eager to start climbing. G9 loves fashion and has quite a sense of style, she and B5 often dress up as part of their imaginative play. B5 is sweet and goofy but can be shy until he warms up to others. He is sensitive and a big helper, especially when it comes to grocery shopping! Unlike his sister, he isn’t interested in TV; instead, he loves soccer, football, the outdoors, archery, and campfires. He also enjoys creative art projects. The children attend school close to home from Monday to Friday. The G9 is in 3rd grade; B5 is in Kindergarten. They are dropped off between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m. and picked up at 3:15 or 3:30 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, B5 has half days and is picked up at 11:50 a.m. The family intentionally keeps their schedule light. After school, they may rest and watch a little TV before putting their things away before playing with friends. Summers are similarly relaxed, with an emphasis on play and limited screen time. They may also start music classes in the future. The kids are basically “homebodies” and are happiest when they play at home together and with their friends until dinnertime.
Family values:
This family values quality time together, emphasizing one-on-one experiences with their children. The parents are empathetic and caring, fostering a loving environment where they truly enjoy spending time together. The family aims to raise children who understand responsibility, such as taking their vitamins and cleaning their rooms, and who exhibit good manners. They love home-cooked, clean foods prepared with care and seek someone who has the desire and ability to cook health-conscious meals sourced from local, quality providers. They prioritize organic ingredients and aim for 90% control over their meals. They prioritize physical activities, such as playing, working out, and riding bikes. Living next to a park, they enjoy hiking and walking in nature as much as possible. Positive reinforcement is a key aspect of their parenting style; they prefer to communicate expectations clearly and implement consequences like losing privileges when necessary. They believe in leaning in rather than pushing the kids away. The nanny is empowered to take the lead. The mom is a stay-at-home parent whose work is focused on maintaining her health and treatments, while the dad works outside of the home. They manage the challenges of a busy and sometimes stressful life with a positive outlook. The parents cherish the laughter and joy that comes with parenting, enjoying playful moments like dancing and roughhousing; they are incredibly smart, kind, and sweet children.
Role + Duties:
This role involves providing nanny care and managing household tasks in collaboration with mom, as she navigates her cancer treatment. At times, the nanny will take on the responsibilities independently, while at other times, they will work collaboratively. Mom strives to spend as much time with the kids as possible. The ideal candidate is a “unicorn”—someone who can handle a little bit of everything. Note: professional cleaners come weekly, so no extensive cleaning is required.
- Basic care and clean-up after the children
- Keeping the home tidy—wiping down counters and tables, vacuuming, and organizing
- Washing family dishes and managing the dishwasher
- Transporting children to and from school and activities
- Using the family car for school drop-off and pick-up
- Organizing closets and play areas
- Scheduling and taking kids to appointments
- Supporting household needs while the children are in school
- Running errands and grocery shopping
- Handling family laundry, including children’s clothes, towels, and occasionally the parents’ laundry.
- Changing children’s bedding
- Assisting with grocery shopping, meal planning, and dinner prep
- Prepare family dinners 3 times per week
- Maintaining the nanny’s vehicle
- Managing errands or shopping trips
- Providing pet care
Pets:
The family does not have any pets at this time, but will be getting a dog in the next year. He will be trained and typically goes to work with Dad daily. Some pet care may be needed such as walks and taking to appts.
Hopes:
Ultimately, the family is seeking a professional long-term nanny/household manager who is adaptable, positive and reliable. The right candidate will have energy that matches the family’s busy household and the kids’ enthusiasm. A positive attitude is crucial—someone who can model a “can-do” mindset for the children. They should be upbeat, creative, and ready to engage. Flexibility is essential due to Mom’s health condition and the demands of Dad’s job. The nanny will work alongside the Mom, sometimes taking on 90% of the care and other times sharing it 50/50. It’s important that the nanny can manage the kids without being distracted by their phone and actively engage them and include them in daily life—cooking, cleaning, caring for pets, and enjoying the routine of family life. The parents seek someone who feels like part of the family rather than just an assistant. The family requires a 1 year commitment, but could see the role being needed for the next several years would be ideal.
