nanny tip #1-3

While nannies are hired to do more than “keep the kids alive”, the actuality is that that this is THE most important part of the job. A family will never knowingly hire a nanny they cannot trust. Beyond their own values, beyond a nanny’s skills and experience… SAFETY FIRST.

How can a nanny provide a safe environment?

First of all, a nanny must have the knowledge themselves. I always push continuing education to professional and career nannies – learning, developing skills, and knowing where to find resources. While this impacts you (and even your resume), more importantly it impacts the level of safe care you are able to provide children.

What could be your next area to study?

  • CPR and AED
  • First Aid
  • Life Guard Training/Water Safety
  • Baby proofing
  • Care seat safety
  • Stranger Danger
  • Allergies
  • Skin protection

Action step: Think of ways to implement safety into your day. How can you support the family you work for so they feel completely confident in you?

Tune in each Tuesday where we post tips for nannies and families!
